By Jerome Bracq
As part of the French Riviera Gardens Festival
Between 1860 and 1930, the Alpes-Maritimes coastline is the place where the largest number of private gardens are created in Europe. At the request of a wealthy clientele, renowned landscapers succeed and create exceptional works. The hundreds of parks and gardens realized then form a real panorama of the art of gardens, from the landscaped style to the "garden of the Riviera". At the same time, exotic acclimation finds ideal climatic conditions in this territory favouring the introduction of thousands of species from temperate, Mediterranean, subtropical or tropical regions. Jérôme Bracq invites us to discover the history and heritage of this "golden age" of the art of the garden.
