THURSDAYS AT THE VILLA EPHRUSSI DE ROTHSCHILD
The Jeudis de la Villa are back for a second, even richer season - with no less than 19 dates this year - and now offer you from November to sunny days a weekly cultural event combining intellectual curiosity and gastronomic pleasure, around a "winter" and varied program. At the end of this year Béatrice, we are thus honoring the wish of Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild to keep the "spirit of Salon" alive and well within her Villa...
The Thursdays of the Villa are dedicated to exchange: between November 7 and April 3, 2025, 19 unique evenings give you the opportunity, in a small group, to come and meet a specialist in the major issues that drive society: culture, history, taste, science and the arts. So many opportunities to open our minds - in a prestigious place - and to enter a space for debate and exchange, before delighting our senses during an intimate dinner between amateurs, concocted by our chef Aude Romero-Filipowski.
The evening includes a champagne welcome in the patio of the Villa (7pm-7:30pm), the thematic conference of the evening (7:30pm-8:45pm) and the dinner at Béatrice concocted by our chef Aure Romero-Filipowski.

Conference - Ernest Pignon-Ernest: From Traits to Footprints
Ernest Pignon-Ernest was born in Nice in 1942. Since the 60s, he has made the street the very place of an ephemeral art that exalts memory, events or myths. A precursor of what is known as "street art", his interventions metamorphose, disrupt and reveal places and their history. From Naples to Algiers, from Nice to Soweto, from Chile to Palestine... Ernest Pignon-Ernest transforms the streets of the world into ephemeral works of art. Some of his images, notably the people shot at the Commune and his vagabond Rimbaud, reproduced in hundreds of thousands of copies, have become true icons of modern times.
We say misunderstanding, while mislooked is not said. There is, however, a great deal of misunderstanding, misunderstanding, equivocation in the eyes that look and do not see. Everywhere, in all places, even the alleys, dead ends, oases, hermitages most remote on Earth, the tidal wave of moving images submerges, saturates the view, reduces the field of the visible to a screen, frames and frames reality as much as the imagination. Faced with this, drawing imposes itself as an ethical choice that wants to link thought and hand with the same gesture, to keep the momentum of the origins, to preserve the entire path which, from lines to imprints, from sketches to sketches, sketches, frescoes, multiplies, declines and amplifies the sign of human connivance. Because, unlike painting, drawing is of all times, in no way dependent on the chronologies, synopses, hierarchies of art history. In drawing, for Ernest Pignon-Ernest, it is not so much a question of representing as of making present. I don't make works in situation, says Ernest Pignon-Ernest, I try to make work out of situations.
