EXHIBITION "GOLD AND PURPLE"
Objects of power and high dignitaries at the court of Emperor Hadrian
29 OCTOBER 2022 - 12 MARCH 2023
In all times and in all civilizations, power has always been associated with pomp and opulence.
The Rome of the Caesars was no exception to the rule.
Political, military and religious leader, what would a Roman emperor be without his attributes and his retinue of high officials? The pomp of the court largely contributed to imperial propaganda and the prestige of its leaders.
Priceless and unique, very few of these objects of power have come down to us. However, statues, bas-reliefs and many other representations have allowed researchers to get an idea of their richness.
Valério Bello, President of the Augustus Caesar Praetoria Association of Re-enactment and Living History, has specialized in the reproduction of some of these artifacts to allow everyone to better represent the magnificence of Roman imperial power.
