An unprecedented event in the Alpes-Maritimes: The Outdoor Festival 06, the nature sports experience!
April 30 to May 3, 2020

The Alpes-Maritimes Department Council will be meeting in 2020, from April 30 to May 3, for a brand new festival entirely dedicated to nature sports: the Outdoor Festival 06!

A unique and original concept, unpublished in the Alpes-Maritimes Completely free and open to all audiences regardless of age and level of practice (accomplished sportsmen, families, active seniors, visitors...), this festival offers 4 days of activities on land, at sea or in the air. A rich and varied program, more than 50 activities offered, 300 formats, and 150,000 participants expected.

Participants in the Outdoor Festival 06 concept will benefit from:
1- Activities based on experience rather than performance with activities offered for all levels of practice (Kid's, family, well-being, discovery, intense and extreme "Outdoor Experience"),
2- Events that celebrate the richness of our heritage ("Outdoor Event") related to nature sports (projections, conferences, exhibitions, workshops, shows..),
3- Competitions will also mark the Festival where top athletes can compete (International Slackline Championship "Outdoor Competition"),
4- The Festival Village will be located in Cannes (Bijou beach / Square Verdun), a place of exchange, conviviality and sharing with product tests, outdoor screenings and a trade show with 50 exhibitors ("Outdoor Camp"), 5- The communes and tourist offices will be able to take part in the programming of the "Outdoor Off" by offering activities, workshops, outings on their territory during the 4 days of the Festival.

A strong involvement of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Council for outdoor sports The Outdoor Festival 06 is the result of a rich and singular past, a territory conducive to the practice of outdoor sports that wishes to turn resolutely towards the future, respecting an authentic practice, under order and wishing to share the legacy of decades of outdoors in the territory of the AlpesMaritimes.

Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Departmental Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, said: "We have an exceptional territory and heritage. The history of the Alpes-Maritimes takes us from the sea to the mountains with all the activities of nature. We organize and benefit from exceptional sporting events: the marathon, the triathlon, the Apnea World Championship with which we shared sensational images or the Tour de France. This festival, in partnership with our Italian friends as part of the ALCOTRA and MITO programmes, will remind us that sport is man's best friend and health: a balance between the physical and the mental, a healthy mind in a healthy body! Finally, this festival will be virtuous because of the protection of our environment and the preservation of our quality of life through several axes: harmonizing the event with the environment, promoting carpooling to get to the various sites , with the goal of "0 waste" on the village, informing and sensitizing the public about nature and education in sustainable development as does our GREEN Deal ambassador, Alexia Barrier. »

Indeed, true to the spirit of the GREEN Deal for the ecological transition of the Alpes-Maritimes, the Departmental Council 06 wanted to place the Outdoor Festival 06 under the aegis of sustainable development.

In addition, through the Outdoor Club 06, international athletes and Festival ambassadors will bring their expertise to the Outdoor disciplines and contribute to the promotion of the event.
