Created in 1996, Les Voiles d'Antibes, held every year during the first week of June,
mark the opening of the Mediterranean circuit for yachts
Tradition and TheMetric Classes as well as the first stage of the
Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge.
Organized at the very beginning of the
season, Les Voiles d'Antibes - Panerai Trophy host, each
year, a selection of the most beautiful Yachts of the period (built before
1950), Classics (built before 1976) and Spirit of Tradition Yachts
as well as TheMetric Classes (6 MJI, 8MJI and 12 MJI
America's Cup competitors from 1958 to 1987), which shaped
since the end of the 19th century, the great history of yachting
International.
For most of the participants, this
prestigious gathering, represents the first major event of
year. As spring returned, the boats reached their ports
Mediterranean. Some have been reviewed or
improvements based on their ratings to optimize their
performances, others were sold or changed crews. Of
participants renew themselves each year around a core
mythical boats such as Ikra, Thendara, Lelantina, Cambria or
Tuiga who have been present at all regattas for a long time.
Each year, between five and fifteen boats, which are not known or
that we haven't seen for a while, reappear. They
go out of restoration or renovation. Antibes being the first
the season's great gathering, sailors, owners and
crews discover them and tell each other new stories
contribute to the party ashore.
Appreciated for the quality of
its regattas
(Match-Race for metric classes and coastal courses,
along the 23 kms of coastline between the bays of Antibes and
Juan-les-Pins for other classes)
and for great friendliness
who reigns back on shore,
The Veils of Antibes - Panerai Trophy
are undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Mediterranean circuit.
But Les Voiles d'Antibes - Panerai Trophy, it's also in the
purer tradition of yachting,
5 days of entertainment and
Friendliness
back to the dock. The on-shore welcome is certainly the
warmer on the circuit. Organized around a village designed on the
theme of celebration and conviviality. Antibes, famous in the world
for its Jazz Festival, had to associate music with
sailing.
