Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 11, Christian Estrosi will open the exhibition "child I dreamed of Africa" in the library Louis Nucéra. This exhibition of 80 paintings pays tribute to the painter Corine Dechauffour and daughter Anne, first victims of the attack on 21 September 2013 in the Mall Westgate in Nairobi (Kenya).

On the occasion of the European heritage days 16 and September 17, 2017, the Masséna Museum will also highlight the life and work of Corine Dechauffour.

"Corine was born on the African continent and then two years, she came with her family living on the Cote d'Azur in Nice." Later she had a passion for the arts and particularly painting of Van Gogh who was, also, largely self-taught.

It's quite late on many trips to Kenya that his dream took body, being in direct contact with nature and the wilderness of this fabulous country this dream could come true. It is integrated with this nature up to live in the middle of Meru national park, one of the wildest and least visited of the Kenya. One even or George Adamson had lived his fabulous history with a lioness named Elsa who was then returned to the Bush. Love so great landscapes and the painting has created an Alchemy revealing in Corine a fascination and the need to translate into works that she had under the eyes.

All this gave him a desire to paint all these fabulous landscapes, these wild animals in their environment along with men and women in these places. This is proved by innate gifts painter of Corine who discovers the Art that she loved so much could also translate into works that will remain with us forever.

CORINE began with learn to sculpture before coming to the creation of paintings which excels the magic of blending the colors so characteristic and so deeply imbued with truth and love.

For nearly a dozen years Corine painted all the natural and wild beauty that was unfolding before his eyes, it represented his first period.

Then comes the second period which crept toward more contemporary art with very different but always based paintings on the life Kenyan including Boranes, an ethnic group which adjoined the Meru Park and inspired Corine (canvas of Abdel). CORINE lived for several years with his family in this universe of so exceptional richness in perfect complicity with the real nature, the real... The approximate purity as close...

Unfortunately all of this idyllic universe ended in tragedy this 21 September 2013. While Corine and Anne, our daughter were travelling by car and passed the Westgate Mall a commando of terrorists coming to invade. They were the first two victims of this atrocious attack that left dozens of victims and countless injured.

Time can pass... not... not worth the pain. »
