An island of greenery in the heart of the city

The Estienne d'Orves park covers 15 hectares. Located in the heart of the city of Nice, it is the result of two acquisitions: the former property of Miramar Castle and the land of the heirs of the family of Estienne d'Orves.

A heritage discovery trail allows you to discover the park's riches.

The soil is made up of puddings: as you follow the trail of discovery, a beautiful outcrop of these cemented pebbles is visible in the undergrowth.

More than 500 hundred-year-old olive trees cover the summit part. Currently, the olive grove is maintained by workers at the Specialized Work Assistance Establishment (ESAT).
Maintenance includes tree pruning, olive harvesting, and bottling after crushing in a traditional mill. A majestic millennial olive tree completes the traces of the old farm.
Other remarkable riches are the carob tree, the flowering ash and the hop charm. These protected trees are scattered throughout the park. In the middle of the holm oaks develops a particularly rare lichen. In the pine forest and oak tree, you will hear the songs of the black-headed hawk, the garden climber, swallows, or even the fast-cut hunk.

The built heritage of the park is very important.
At the entrance to the estate, the Villa Sorguebelle,built in 1740, was used for the storage of citrus fruits.
The "garden of the bishop's house" with its double-revolution staircase, the basin and the noria, now welcomes the visitor to the heart of this island of nature.
The Bellevue villa, the former home of the Count of Estienne d'Orves,is covered with trompe l'oeil friezes. A rose garden is located below the forecourt. Opposite the mansion, the Villa Vicina served as a painting workshop in Félicie d'Estienne d'Orves. On the summit, the villa La Conque, unfortunately very degraded, offers a stunning view of the Bay of Angels.
