EXPO MIRÓMATISSE. LED TOTHE IMAGES
JUNE 28 - SEPTEMBER 29, 2024
MATISSE MUSEUM
The Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona and the Matisse Museum in Nice are joining forces to organise an exhibition dedicated to the relationship between the works of Henri Matisse and Joan Miró.
Starting from a biographical basis, the exhibition looks back at the decisive moments when the two artists' intersecting views of their respective works were particularly productive: Miró's thinking about Fauvism in the late 1910s and early 1940s; the stimulus provided to Matisse by the works of Miró, from the mid-1930s onwards.
The exhibition presents their shared practices, comparing the assassination of Mironian painting with Matisse's decorative aesthetics: illustrated books, large monumental compositions, up to a final "face-to-face" between major works, with testamentary value, by each of the two artists.
Every day from 10 am to 6 pm, except closed on Tuesdays.
