JASMINE FESTIVAL - GRASSE

5-7 AUGUST 2022

The jasminum grandiflorum grown in Grasse since the mid-nineteenth century exudes an unforgettable sweet, floral and fruity scent, wonderfully adapted to the creation of the greatest compositions. The picking season runs from August to October. Every day, the pickers meet in the fields and from 5 a.m. begin to detach these delicate flowers with a bewitching scent. It takes two hours of time to pick up a kilo of these little white stars that will have to be delivered to the factories in the early afternoon to be processed immediately.
For a liter of jasmine absolute – a treasure, you need eight kilos of flowers.

Every year since 1946, Grasse has celebrated the iconic jasmine and pays a popular tribute to growers and creators alike, to the earth and to the final fragrance.

By tradition, the 1st weekend of August opens the festivities. Everywhere in the streets, the little white flower is sublimated, like a beauty queen. The crowd flocks and expresses its joy.

Parade with sprinkling of jasmine water by the firefighters of Grasse and distribution of flowers by Miss Grasse, Miss Country
of Grasse and its dolphins
Among the groups, come and admire the luminous parades of Parfum de Jasmin – giant jasmine flowers,
the flower women of Magic Garden, Circo Fantasias with its petal-powered float, the Bollywood Fairy troupe,
the Barranquilla, the magical ballet of flag throwers, the great fanfare and its majorettes, the riches of Salvador de Bahia and the Troupe Singing in the rain.
