CONFERENCES COLLOQUIA AND CONCERTS AT THE C.U.M
16 SEPTEMBER - 14 DECEMBER 2021
Program of the 4th quarter. A place of memory and prestige, the Mediterranean University Center (U.C.M.) offers the general public conferences, concerts, and symposia.
Created in 1933 (its first administrator was Paul Valéry), the was until 1965 an intellectual and cultural space. It was then used to set up the new University of Nice before becoming, today, a centre for exchange and expression.
A pretty palace, white and red, on the Promenade des Anglais. At the threshold, two palm trees. On the right, the memory of Marie Bashkirtseff's pine, which cast a light shadow on the vast window of Paul Valéry's office-library. Inside, a jewel worthy of the case: the finish of the paving and parquet floors responds to the art of woodwork, a modern secretariat, a room of acts, with ice, gilding and Pompeian ochre, made to accommodate the elite of intellectuals. Finally, an amphitheater, considered the most beautiful in France.
This house dedicated to the cult of the spirit has pretensions equal to its setting. It is the meeting place of the world's eminent spirits. The Mediterranean University Centre remains today a unique institution of its kind.
