NICE CARNIVAL 2022 "King of Animals"

Discover the novelties of this Carnival of reunion!

A large-scale opening ceremony: Free for the people of Nice, it will take place on Friday, February 11 at 6:30 pm on Place Masséna. King, Queen, Carnavallon, flowered floats, Carnival Herald from the city's districts, flag bearers, musical troupes, dancers, foreign guests... all the actors of the Carnival will be gathered to present themselves to the public! Lasting 1 hour, this ceremony will officially kick off the 149th Nice Carnival with a real sound and light show.

A Carnival Village: Located around the Bandstand of the Jardin Albert 1er, the people of Nice will be able to find every day and free of charge animations, gourmet stands, conferences and shows as well as ticketing. This village will be open for the duration of the Carnival. On the stage of the Théâtre de Verdure, animations and shows for young and old will be programmed. Like what is organized in the world of cinema, "Carnival masterclasses" will give the public the opportunity to learn more about Carnivals and discover history and behind the scenes.

The exhibition of the corso: Before each outing, the public will be able to enjoy the exhibition of the floats near the Place Masséna.

Additional stands: New stands will be installed all along avenue de Verdun, making proximity to the corso very real. More family and quiet atmosphere than in the stands place Masséna, but just as festive!

A real closing ceremony: meet all the people of Nice on Sunday, February 27 for the cremation of the King. This year we want to make this incineration a real show. The cremation will be an opportunity to end this carnival with a great popular and free festival.

And to enjoy the party more and make the program more dynamic, the illuminated corsos will start at 8pm instead of 9pm for a duration of 90 minutes. Regarding the flower battles, a large green and flowery promenade will be installed in the middle of place Masséna (the NissaDrome). Indeed, flowers will be the queens of Carnival 2022! Symbol of the heritage of Nice, flowers take an essential place in the Carnival of Nice. For the first time, all the flowered floats will participate in the Grand Corso on the evening of Saturday, February 12.

And because the Nice Carnival attracts 200,000 visitors every year, 18% of whom are foreign tourists, we will also host a foreign Carnival for the first time. Thus, the Belgian Carnival "Les Gilles de la Louvière" will be the guest of honor of the 2022 edition. A large troupe of "Gilles de la Louvière" will perform in #Nice06 with its huge hats, colorful costumes, music, hooves and bells.
