MUSÉE MATISSE

For the first time in France, a major exhibition devoted to
sculpture by Henri Matisse with more than 120 works sculptures, paintings,
drawings and photographs.
Recognized as one of the greatest painters of the first half 20th century sculptor Henri Matisse has yet to be discovered. Rich eighty-four pieces made between 1900 and 1950, this part of the of the work covers all periods of his artistic career and accompanies her pictorial achievements, of which she is inseparable.
Same if painting remains his main mode of expression, Henri Matisse is one of those complete artists whose multiple practice explores various mediums. Matisse's sculpture is a work of its own to be compared to that of the great sculptors of the 20th century came after Auguste Rodin.
The exhibition takes as its point starting with the artist's method of creation and his work transformation of the figure according to serial variations. She also shows a large set of extra-Western sculptures from the artist's collection, a source of inspiration, in dialogue with Matisse's work.
