A walk of about 2:30 to discover the quays of the Port, from the Lympia Gallery in Rauba Capeù.

Did you know that? Nice had its own prison (active until 1850!) and it was his convicts who built much of the port... Started in 1750, the work lasted more than a century and a half! Today mainly a marina and tourism, a residential area with many restaurants, this was not always the case for the port Lympia... Even if Nice is not a port city par excellence like Marseille, the eventful history of its port proves quite exciting and allows to illustrate many aspects of the history of Nice as a whole!

During this visit, we will present the emblems of the district: the Church of Notre-Dame-du-Port framed by its two buildings in Genoese neoclassical style; the charming village of antique dealers; the colorful dots, pride of the port; the former nice prison, now (since 2017) the Lympia Gallery; The Crane Breeding No. 14, the only remnant of the commercial past of the port of Nice...

And remember: surprises, good addresses and meetings are there!

With "Secrets of Neighbourhoods" discover the "past" of a neighbourhood, its exciting history, and its "present" and meet the actors who participate in the life and attractiveness of the neighborhood today: artisans, traders, artists, gallery owners, restaurateurs... Good addresses and friendliness are at the rendezvous!

On the programme: the emblematic districts of Nice to (re)discover (Port Lympia, Tzarevitch, Vieux-Nice, Promenade des Anglais...), but also less well-known neighbourhoods, which we pass through every day without necessarily knowing its history or paying attention to their hidden treasures (Les Baumettes, Lepante, Ariane, Libération...).

This tour is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
