TOURRETTE-LEVENS
Each year takes place in Tourrette-Levens, a procession of lights, known as "Proucession Dai Limassa". The tradition is that the houses are illuminated with a multitude of snail shells filled with oil and with a small wick.
This tradition would be traced back to the middle ages. It was Pope Urban IV who decided in 1264 to celebrate with a special event the sacrament of the Eucharist. His successor, John XXII, endowed her with an octave like the great religious festivals and prescribed a procession of the Blessed Sacrament.
