Lina Hentgen and Gaëlle Hippolyte each studied at Villa arson between 1998 and 2006. From their encounter was born a collaboration with four hands under the name of Hippolyte Hentgen. Through drawings, installations, performances, films, they take ownership and use the codes of comics, press design and popular imagery – including the animated film and the image industry. Hippolyte Hentgen has created a fantasy and burlesque world over the years. In the context of the biennial they conceive at MAMAC a proposal punctuated with large canvases, films, sculptures and installations. Between fantasmatic spirit and pop resurgence, this universe evokes a fictional scenery, awaiting its activation.
