Exhibition on the occasion of the 15th edition of "Meet me in the gardens".

It's tourism that Nice is world renowned. In the good old days, the city is the major destination of aristocrats and upper class who come to spend the winter. A luxury and hospitality economy develops there, sociability networks are created, a demonstrative architecture transforms the landscape.

The Hill of Mount Boron, which is located on the Cape of Nice, is urbanizing in the half of the XIX^e century. Landscaping this area subject to military easements will be transformed with the construction of the huge field of the "Castle of the English" from 1856. This original house marks the advent of resort architecture in Nice. Many courses are serviced and off of luxurious residences. This is where prominent characters of the Second Empire, such as baron Haussmann and the banker Louis Frémy, to build their villas in magnificent landscaped parks.
