In 1992, the wolf returned to France in a natural and sustainable way. This happened here, in the Cantour Sea NationalPark,a few steps from Saint-Martin Vesubia.
This park, which tells the story of man and wolf, was created to make you discover a fascinating animal, in the most beautiful environments. But also to make you hear what our shepherds think, the guardians of our traditions, what the ethologists, these eminent specialists in animal behavior, tell us, and what the wolf guards tell us, which are the memory of our country.
You will travel through three areas:
The Wolf's Step
The Boréon WelcomeChalet, a building transformed into an information centre on the Mercantour National Park and the various activities of the Vesubia Valley, houses the offices, the ticket office and theshop. The Pas du Loup is a worked path, taken by visitors to reach the Cherry Bridge, entrance to the park. In winter, ice sculptures punctuate the walk.
Men's time
The men's time is articulated around the Vacheries deCerise, two ancient "cows", magnificent stables of stone and wood, in which are installed the scenovisions, which by their originality, have no equivalent in the world. Three of them combine with subtlety techniques derived from theatre and audiovisual.
The wolf's time
The Wolf's time allows, through wooden lookouts, to observe three packs of wolves in semi-freedom (23 wolves in total), on fenced areas of natural vegetation. Animations offered by the park's caretakers and animators allow visitors to better know the mores of this animal, which provokes such strong reactions.
