PROGRAMMING
The Cinémathèque de Nice programs 350 to 400 films per year, favouring the original version under title for foreign films.
In order to satisfy a wide audience with different tastes and aspirations, allow them to discover heritage films and develop a cinematic culture. The Cinematheque's programming is designed around several axes:

• Cycles devoted to:
  • a director,
  • a comedian,
  • a cinematic genre,
  • an aesthetic current,
  • a country.
• "Classic" films, i.e. the landmark films in the history of cinema, which, like some literary works, must be seen at least once.
• More recent films that, given economic imperatives, disappear too quickly from cinemas and that the public has not had time to see or will have fun to see again.

THE CINE CONCERTS
Each year, the cinematheque offers the discovery of major works of silent cinema that have been the subject of a sound illustration by an original score and invites the composer and performers for a performance.

THE CINE CLUB OF JEAN DOUCHET
Each month, the Cinémathèque hosts the Ciné Club by Jean Douchet, critic, historian, filmmaker and film teacher for a film analysis of a must-see in the history of cinema.

THE "CINEMA LESSONS"
Each year, the Cinémathèque de Nice invites a contemporary director and offers the most complete retrospective possible of his work. On this occasion, the filmmaker meets the audience and gives a "Cinema Lesson". A monographic booklet tracing his filmography is published.

CINSTAR: CINEMA UNDER THE STARS
In the summer season and during special events, the Cinémathèque offers nightly outdoor screenings. On a giant screen, spectators of all generations discover in a friendly atmosphere, a work of defining the history of cinema.
THE PREVIEWS
The Cinémathèque de Nice is also requested by French and foreign distribution companies to organize National First Sitques that take place in the "Apollon" room of the Palais des Congrès (Acropolis). This prestigious room, which can accommodate 2500 seats, enjoys exceptional sound and visual quality with a 24-metre-basic screen. These Avant Premieres, usually organized for the benefit of a charity, take place in the presence of producers, directors and actors who come to present their film in front of the public and the invited press on this occasion.

ACCESS CONDITIONS
The Cinematheque sessions are open to anyone interested in cinematic heritage.
The Nice Cinematheque is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

To register, simply go to the Cinematheque and fill out a subscription form with name and address.
After subscription the monthly screenings program is sent home.
