The Mozart opera is a dramma giocoso, i.e. a joyful lively drama of an unstoppable force. The libretto deftly troussé of Lorenzo da Ponte takes the myth of Tirso de Molina, which Molière made also his Don Juan ; but Mozart's music, from the opening, shield the whole of a metaphysical dimension that exceeds by far the anecdote. Don Giovanni is the quintessence of the genius of Mozart, a kind of absolute of the genre, where the top and bottom of human nature come together, where to flirt the tragic and grotesque, the sublime and the ridiculous, spiritual impulses and the pleasures of the flesh. The all cast in the most divine music ever written. The one who will tell Richard Wagner that Don Giovanni's "Opera of operas".
