This opera is the first of three works from the collaboration between Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte, the other two being Don Giovanni and Così fan all. A booklet in Italian based on a French play whose action takes place in Spain, set to music by Mozart, Austrian and European composer before time, Le Nozze di Figaro are adapted from the Marriage of Figaro, comedy of Beaumarchais. triumphantly, created in 1784. It's Mozart who, with the approval of Emperor Joseph II, proposed text to Lorenzo da Ponte who made a booklet, by erasing moreover of the booklet all political references of the original.

At the castle of Aguas-salads near Seville, social order wobbles. Love desires shoving the hierarchy and the conflicts of power. The Rosine in the Barber of Seville is now the Countess Almaviva. Her fickle husband continues, among other things, the maid of his wife, Susanna, who must marry Figaro joined the service of the county but also the daughter of his gardener, the small Barbarina. However, it is rivaled by the young page Cherubino, chasing all the women of his attentions and especially the Countess, her godmother. On his side, the old Marcellina, assisted the doctor Bartolo and Basilio music master, wants to prevent the marriage of Figaro and Suzanne, because the latter made him a promise of marriage...

By humour situations and of misunderstandings, the pace of the booklet and the perfection of the orchestral writing, Le Nozze di Figaro is one of the most perfect examples of the marriage successful between poetry and music.
