The work of Jean-Michel Fauquet is mainly performed in the workshop and proceeds in different stages of design and manufacturing of the subject. Drawings, sculptures, contribute to the achievement of silver photographic prints enhanced the oil paint.
His works are the result of processes that appeal to the drawingand the painting to sculpture, before giving place to close printing photographs. It is essentially a studio work, where the subject, made of poor materials, is a pretext that arouses the viewer a narrative that it develops from its own memory and his imagination.
His way of seeing the light and forms is very personal, and its draw processes, as well as the use of documents or specific media are also an alchemist. The very particular of these photographic prints treatment gives them a unique character and all this production is entirely done by the artist at all stages of its creation.
His prior work on the form produces a set of models, sometimes exposed, which are similar to architectural, vegetable or anthropomorphic forms.
These objects of disturbing appearance are a mode of representation that can arouse in the Viewer, the emergence of a very secret story and as many points of crystallization of its archaic memory. Finally, the writing and the presentation of these images, sometimes on the mode of the altarpiece, cause, by the juxtaposition of the works, a new sense of reading.
Jean-Michel Fauquet's work has been the subject ofexhibitions abroad and in France, notably in the photography of Arles in 2013 meetings. He is represented in major collections (the national fund of contemporary art, the National Library of France, the European House of photography, the national Museum of modern art).
The exhibition, consisting of more than 150 works and objects, will discover the world of this talented artist.
Born in 1950 in Lourdes, Jean-Michel Fauquet engages in a twelve-year journey to the Canada where he teaches photography at the University. It is however in Paris he moved and he exposes himself. His work look more like paintings in oil than in pictures. His way of seeing the light and forms is very personal.
