"THE 109"
Pole of Contemporary Cultures of the City of Nice
The former slaughterhouses of the city of Nice have been converted into a cultural space.
It started in 2008 with a collective of artists with "La Station", an association defending contemporary art through including various temporary exhibitions.
Subsequently, the Chantier Sang Neuf has set up various events around contemporary music, exhibitions and conferences thanks to the creation of several spaces such as "la Grande Halle", "Le Frigo 16" or "la Table Ronde".
The 109 has continued to expand, and welcomes new
major players in the cultural life of Nice: installation of workshops
municipal plastic artists, establishment of the forum of urbanism and
Architecture without forgetting the Entre-Pont which includes about forty
associations of live performances, the dance company Antipodes,
Botox(s) (a network of contemporary art Alps and Riviera) and the union
architects of the French Riviera.
